Quota and Indian Politics
Published on April 5th, 2007 In Uncategorized, Politics |  Views 75

The quota issue is becoming trickier and the latest to join the bandwagon is the tamilnadu government which has proclaimed to give quota to the minorities. Is it really a just stand or vote bank politics?

It is another political gimmick and the politicians are shameless to do anything for appeasing minorities to get votes.  Thank God we have a sane supreme court which raps on the knuckles of the politicians when something like this happens.  No wonder our politicians criticise the courts and its verdicts when it is unfavourable for them and call for bandhs.

Do minorities really need quotas?  Already we have minority institutions (where government seats are virtually zero) for the welfare of the minorities and their upbringing.  Why then the quotas?  Were they depressed or deprieved of opportunities as is the case with SC/ST?

Is the decision taken by the elected government not fit for judicial review as is claimed by Arcot Veerasamy, MK and more recently communists.  What should be done to governments that organise bandhs?
